Grant partnership opportunity for schools & districts that use KidCitizen

The KidCitizen team is planning to apply for a interesting new grant opportunity from the Educating for American Democracy Initiative, aimed at supporting high quality history and civic education for students in grades K-5.

And we are looking for school partners!

The grant will support successful Civics/History projects focused on K-5 students, aligned with the EAD Roadmap, as part of a school’s formal K-5 educational program. These are intended to be pilot projects that address gaps in materials, approaches, and educator development for K–5 students, especially in underserved communities (communities where income is at or below the state median)

Educating for American Democracy is a thoughtful and balanced initiative, created by an incredible national team. The EAD Roadmap aligns well with KidCitizen’s approach, both emphasizing inquiry, primary sources, among other connections.

If you are interested in partnering with KidCitizen, we would together apply for a grant to support civics learning activities in your classrooms (including PD) that follow the EAD roadmap and draw on KidCitizen resources.

The grant program envisions grant awards between $20,000 and $200,000, and we expect most awards will be on the lower to mid end of that range. The grant needs to come from a school, school district or non-profit entity, so we are looking for a school or district that is interested in being a lead applicant with our support.

If you are at all interested in exploring partnering with KidCitizen, or have questions, get in touch soon, as EAD is looking for applications by the end of May.

The best way to get in touch is to email us at team.kidcitizen.net, or use button below.

Thanks, and look forward to hearing from you,

The KidCitizen team: Dr. Michael Berson, Dr. Ilene Berson, Bert Snow (Co-PIs.)
